We have all experienced the panic that sets in when something is spilled on our carpet.
Whether it’s juice, a pet’s accident, mud, or something else, believe it or not, it’s possible to get rid of stubborn stains if you use the right carpet spot removal method!
Treating Water-Soluble Carpet Stains
This includes things like in, paint, berries, drinks, chocolate, blood, and more. A simple cleaning solution usually does the trick—like mixing 1 quarter teaspoon of white vinegar with 32 ounces of water, or 1 tablespoon of ammonia with 1 cup of water. You can also try a store-bought carpet stain remover.
Just be sure not to use these solutions if you have a wool or wool-blend carpet. Use a mild detergent and warm water to treat the stain instead.
Treating Wax and Oily Carpet Stains
When something like gum or candle wax lands on your carpet, it can seem impossible to remove. Start by placing ice on top of the stain to freeze it, then pick out as much as you can with a knife. You can also try placing an old towel over the area then ironing over it on a warm setting to transfer the waxy stain to the towel.
If there’s glue on your carpet, use a towel to lightly dab the area with rubbing alcohol, then wipe the stain away. You can also use a small amount of nail polish remover to get rid of nail polish stains. In either of these cases, test a small area of your carpet first to make sure it doesn’t discolor the fibers.
Treating Pet Stains On Carpet
Try absorbing as much of the stain as you can with a towel, then use a stain remover solution to get rid of surface stains.
However, it’s important to note that efficient pet urine cleaning is not a D-I-Y solution. You’ll need to schedule a professional Pet Urine Removal Treatment to get rid of bacteria and odors that sink deep beneath the surface.
